Great Chinese food! I was also pleasantly surprised by the décor of the restaurant and the service. Our waitress was very attentive. I ordered the beef and broccoli- super good! My boyfriend ordered the orange beef which he thought was good. My beef and broccoli came with pork fried rice and an egg roll. Lotus has hands-down the best pork fried rice I have ever tried! They put fresh, large chunks of pork in the rice- not the usual 5-day old, red, pork rocks they throw in at other restaurants. The egg roll dipped in duck sauce was to die for, and I don't typically like egg rolls or duck sauce for that matter. This is for sure my new Chinese spot.

Visiting Ft Laud with some friends and was craving Chinese. Found some good reviews and decided to try this place. I'm pretty plain when it comes to food and don't venture outside the box too much but went overboard on this occasion. Orange beef...just order it and thank me later. Also got the honey scallops and walnuts. Delicious. Ask for recommendations, the staff is extremely helpful and will make sure you enjoy your meal. Family owned restaurant and everyone is a pleasure to speak with. To sum it up, go get some good Chinese food and stop reading my review!

I do like Lotus Kitchen -- While it's not on the same playing field as Chinese restaurants in large cities, I've eaten here many times when visiting over the years, and I really do like the food. I think this place is one of the better Chinese restaurants that the area has to offer at reasonable prices. My only complaint is that I think they have a new cook, and for me, the quality has gone down a notch. For instance, the Sesame Chicken used to have a nice crunch to it because the batter was perfectly fried before the sauce was applied... However, for the past many times (numerous visits while vacationing over recent months), the crunch was gone and the batter is more on the "soft" side. Noticeable difference but still good. The same thing can be said about the Orange Beef, which is my favorite dish here. Again, the food is still good... Just not as good as it used to be, but still better than most other places nearby. I wanted to give the place 4 stars, but the discounted quality is noticeable. As for the staff, they are very friendly and the service is pretty quick. RECOMMEND: BBQ pork ends as appetizer!

This used to be my favorite Chinese place in FTL, but I'm tired of being disappointed. Really bad service is one thing, but cold food is another. I don't think I'm ever going back. Too many letdowns in the past few months. I'd rather eat bad pizza.

It breaks my heart that this restaurant has slid downhill. I have been going there since it was just a takeout joint, well over 20 years. I think the old folks who opened it are gone now and THEY made sure the food was of a high quality. I don't see them any more and the food is nowhere near as good as it used to be. It used to be packed and the last few times I went it was pretty empty. It's a shame because there is no place around that was as good as Lotus was!

I am an expert on Lotus. I grew up within walking distance and my parents have been taking me there literally since I was in a baby sling. The people who work there have never forgotten our names, even now that I'm in college and my mom has moved out of the city. They are the friendliest, sweetest people in the world and I am so thrilled that they continue to be successful to this day. I've never had a bad meal here. I swear by their chicken wings. No one has chicken wings like theirs. They are unbelievable. I pretty much always have moo goo gai pan with chicken fried rice. It's always great. I love the crunchy noodles on the table. I love everything about this place. True, the ambiance is nothing to speak of. The menu is also not incredibly large, but I think you'll find that all the typical dishes one would look for in a Chinese restaurant are there and that they are satisfactory. The service is usually good. If you're looking for great Chinese, look no further.

Have been going to Lotus since the mid 90's and everytime I have a crave for chinese is the place to go. I usually order the general tao chicken and they do have the best. The service always have been exceptional. Lately the fried rice has been a little dry and the take out has become smaller portion, & the appetizers are a little pricey. but stick to the combination dinners and you will not be disappointed The place can use some updating when it comes to decor , but still my place to go when I crave chinese

The chicken wings made me do it. I don't often hit up a place more than once in my week long forays to Ft Laud, but the wings, the wings. This time I also nabbed some of the fantail shrimp, egg rolls, pork fried rice and, of course, hot and sour soup. The egg roll was average, like the shrimp rolls I had last time. The fantail shrimp are in a tempura-like batter and were light and tasty. The pork fried rice was the best I have ever had. Large chunks of tender roast pork and not greasy for fried rice. The best thing is that the wings hold up well for a day or day and a half in the fridge (ok, I ate the leftovers in a day and a half so I don't know if they can hold up for two days). This time I got more so I can make it through the last couple of days in SoFL.

Nice place after you enter. Th strip mall needs a little facelift. Food is typical Chinese food that was and still is served all over the midwest. They even use the serving dishes with covered tops to keep the food warm like they had when I was a kid. Staff is friendly and attentive. Prices are reasonable and the food is tasty if you sre used to americanized Chinese food and not something exotic.

Delicious and authentic Chinese food. Not your typical Chinese food take out joint. Great service and huge portions. The atmosphere was pretty nice too. We had stuffed eggplant, stuffed tofu, bok choy, fresh grouper fish, fried chicken wings, spared ribs, shrimp and scallop with deep fried walnuts, chicken rice noodles, and fried rice. Everything was made perfectly. The fish was really good and loved the sauce that came with it. I think the spared ribs were the first dish finished at our table. By the end of the meal, I was completely stuffed.

Family owned restaurant for 30+ years in the same location. Have been coming here for years and food has always been consistent backed by friendly customer service... Their ginger garlic chicken aka general tsos is one of my favorites. The secret is the use of dark meat making it juicy inside and extra crispy outside. Their chicken wings is also one of a kind using very little batter - very crispy , the skin is to die for. One of the best Chinese restaurants in Wilton Manors/Ft. Lauderdale area.

For really good budget, easy on the wallet, inexpensive (the word "cheap" will also fit), simple Chinese food along with decent friendly service, this is the place. Lotus Chinese Kitchen is tucked away in a simple strip mall offer plenty of parking off 26th Street in Wilton Manor. It's a simple place; similar in nature to what may be a neighborhood diner, but instead only offering Chinese food. They consistently have daily specials; the place appears clean, neat and has an attentive wait staff. I'm a fan of this place for a quick, simple afternoon or late night Chinese food fix or when taking a large group that I prefer to impress with false notions of my frugality instead of revealing my otherwise more to the norm habits for the opulent.

Located in a run down 1970's strip mall with updated decor that really doesn't look or feel updated decor. Anyone with half way decent eyesight can tell that the place was thrown together in probably the fastest and cheapest way possible, which probably speaks to the taste of the food too. Let's be real... It's not great Chinese food. It will get you through a fix. I mean, the other Chinese joints I have tried around here were so terrifically bad that this one had to be better than the others. Odds? The Wonton soup was tasteless so I doused it with a packet of hot mustard, threw in some duck sauce and tossed a few of those stringy dried wontons things they give you at the beginning of the meal. The egg rolls are of standard size, but greasy as hell. I had the sweet and sour chicken too and totally survived. So that's good. The portions are large. The prices are reasonable. The storefront is just weird, but this is Broward County baby. Don't expect at or above standard shit around here. The staff was friendly enough and the business has been there for thirty years. Go here in a must-have-chinese-food moment. Don't expect it to be amazing.

Whoa! I didn't know how tired and hungry I was until I had been in my car for 30 minutes, wondering where the heck the beach was, only to find myself in Pembroke Pines, driving past I-75 (while I was looking for I-95), realizing I had been on the right road but going the wrong way. Of course, the nonstop pouring rain didn't help, either, especially since it put a damper on my sunbathing plan. As for this Wilton Manors restaurant, it is your typical old-school Cantonese greasy spoon serving standard though decent-tasting carryout dishes. Despite its dumpy façade, located in an almost derelict-looking strip mall, the dining room is surprisingly spacious and has been nicely updated. The staff is friendly, with prompt service, even though I found it curious that the owner, who originally came from Hong Kong, asked me if I was Japanese after reading the name on my debit card (my surname can't be any more Chinese).

It's not Chinatown in Los Angeles, NYC , or San Francisco but the food is good, fast and cheap. You can get a combo platter like I had for under ten dollars with hot tea,egg roll, and fried wonton. They even serve brown rice if you want for $1 extra. I want there with a fellow Yelper , Marqus who had the curry shrimp and he enjoyed it with the brown rice. True I had better in Thailand,China, and California but this is Fort Lauderdale-Miami and we really don't have a China Town,Im sorry to say. But pass the chop sticks please, the food is good and the serve is fast and friendly .

My boyfriend and I recently relocated from Chicago and had heard horror stories of the local Chinese food. However, our meal was quite enjoyable. We ordered orange chicken, pork fried rice, pan-fried pot stickers (aka dumplings) and an egg roll. I was pretty skeptical when we walked in because the fishy smell was fairly strong, but everything tasted freshly prepared (and not like fish). The egg roll filling was tasty and did not have that gritty feeling that some of the yuckier egg rolls I have eaten elsewhere have had. The sweet and sour sauce served with it was okay, too. The pot stickers also had a nice filling and were properly pan-seared. The orange chicken wasn't as spicy as the "spicy pepper" icon on the menu indicated, so next time I will ask for more heat, but the breading remained crispy and the chicken was tender underneath the orange sauce; the sauce wasn't too sweet. My only complaint would be the pork in the pork fried rice -- it was kind of tasteless. The vegetables in the fried rice were also fresh and not the typical frozen peas and carrots I have experienced in numerous other Chinese restaurants. Our server was a bit harried due to a large party, but she was pleasant and efficient. Certainly, the decor wasn't glitzy, but the table and tableware were clean. The prices were reasonable ($1.50 for an egg roll, $14.50 for the orange chicken) and the portions of what we ordered were enough for both of us. We will return and try some other entrees. My boyfriend says 3 stars (A-OK), but I think 4 stars (I'm a fan) because he managed to eat 6 large pieces of chicken 3 pot stickers, and a lot of rice. And I am writing the review. : )

Wow, looking from the outside it doesn't seem much, but stepping in surprised me a lot. The dining room is nicely done with stone wall decor. Friendly service. Now let's talk about the food. I got the orange beef with white rice. One word...AMAZING!!! The sauce they put on that is so good and addicting! It's so flavorful! The beef itself was really delicious and cooked perfectly. It was crispy and just so delicious! It was a lot for one person and great for the price! I'm definitely coming back for more orange beef! I had orange beef from other restaurants and nothing comes close to how good this one tastes from Lotus. If you like PF changs, Mongolian beef...this is 100xs better!!! Talking about it just makes me want more now! A MUST TRY!!

I'm usually happy with Chicken Fried rice here. I prefer other types of international foods. Definitely have a amazing portions here. WOW on the LARGE serving soups - be prepared for one of the biggest soup bowls ever to be placed in front of you if you order one!

Been going to Lotus since before the fire in the late 1980's. It was a favorite for many, and after being closed for a year or so, it opened to anxiously awaiting crowds. And well it should. The restaurant looks and even feels the same..........consistent , like their food! Have not had a bad meal there, either eat in or take- out. Absolutely love the Ginger Garlic Chicken, Egg Foo Yong, and Fried Dumplings....and oh, yes...their mixed Wonton and egg drop soup (known as mixed soup). Chinese penicillin! Service, like the food, is consistently fast and courteous. My only complaint...the men's room consistently stinks of urine. Not at all appetizing...(I hope management is reading this!).

So I decided to try out a different place for my Chinese addiction. I stopped and placed an order to take to the drive-in movie at the Swap Shop. I was anxious to try out this place since I've only heard good reviews. The restaurant is in an old shopping center that still has damage from hurricane Andrew, the inside was lacking in cleanliness, and the workers were all shouting in Mandarin. In other words - all the appearances of yummy Chinese takeout! The service was fairly fast considering the vast quantity of food we ordered. Unfortunately the place did not live up to my expectations at all. My szechwan chicken was super dry even though it was covered in sauce, I only received one soup even though I ordered two, there were no napkins. And although I was specific about asking for eating utensils (I asked three times) we received neither knife or spoon. I hate giving a bad review, but I it was so bad! I mean, come on; how do you screw-up egg rolls? Me no go back... :..( My search continues...

Quite Simply.....................THE BEST Chinese food in Florida! I hesitate to give such raving reviews...don't want my little secret getting out. I eat here 4-6 times a month. The perfect combination of great food, big portions, cheap prices and good service !! My girlfriend insisted we try Christina Wans....so we did! Just reinforced all the things we love about Lotus!!!!

12/25/13: Chinese on Christmas... Sure, but not here. the beef and broccoli that I had was not great. Very low grade of beef was used for this dish. The best thing was the egg roll. I had been in the past and visits were OK at best, but I honestly cant say that I will be back.

Looks like a dumpy hole-in-the-wall -- a SMALL hole-in-the-wall, to be exact! -- but, decided to give it a try since it's just around the corner from my home in WilMa. I was surprised to see that what I thought was simply a small take-out, was actually quite a large-sized sit-down restaurant -- clean and decently appointed. Friendly service (for a Chinese joint -- sometimes they can be friendly but quite brusque), and, surprisingly (and even better!) terrific-tasting food! Will have to go back a second time to give this place another shot and see if the first time wasn't some kind of fluke... :D

First time here. I thought it was just a small takeout place but they have a full size dining room just to the left. Our server was very pleasant and at tentative. We order steamed dumplings to start, mu shu pork, and garlic ginger chicken. We asked for the chicken very spicy and the pork normal ( menu says hot and spicy). There was barely any spice. Our server asked if it was hot enough and we told her that it wasn't. She laughed ( not in a bad way) and joked you must like it scorching hot. A minute later a small bowl of red chili paste arrived, it WAS hot. Nice touch. The chicken was good, very big pieces, but not very garlic or ginger like. The pork was, well, just OK. Too much cabbage for my preference. Over all, I like Lotus Kitchen and will return.

Cutest family owned Chinese place ever! I'm a regular here and most of the staff knows me by name and they are super friendly. Steamed dumplings and wonton soup are my favorite things but the whole menu is awesome!

First let me talk about the food, then I will describe the bizzare part of my experience with this restaurant. We ordered 5 takeout dishes, vegetable egg rolls, tofu and broccoli, tofu and green beans, vegetable lo mein and vegetable fried rice. That last dish will be important later on in this story. The vegetable egg rolls were all roll and no vegetable. Really heavy on the batter and just some cheap filler veggies inside. The tofu and green beans which I ordered spicy was not spicy. It wasn't even medium. I know they heard the order correctly because the word spicy was written on the takeout box. The broccoli and tofu was supposed to be in a garlic sauce but it was really sweet. I don't think garlic sauce is normally sweet. The vegetable lo mein was mostly noodles. I counted 3 pieces of baby corn in it, a few pea pods and a couple pieces of broccoli. By the time we go down halfway into the container there were only noodles and no vegetables. Everything we ordered needed more flavor. We ended up adding soy sauce, sirichi, Thai chili sauce, etc whatever we could find in our fridge. Last but not least, the VEGETABLE fried rice. As you may have guessed from our order, we are vegetarians. If you were able to guess that, you are one step ahead of Lotus Chinese Kitchen employees. They gave us the "special" fried rice instead of the vegetable. It was fried rice with pork, chicken, shrimp, etc. I immediately called the restaurant and asked if they could deliver the correct food. They told me they don't deliver. They said they could give me a credit. This by the way was after they denied that I ordered the vegetable fried rice instead of the special fried rice. I told them I didn't want a credit, I wanted a refund. After putting me on hold, I was told that I had to BRING BACK the wrong item in order to get my refund. Pause while that sinks in for all of you. Yes, they are requiring me to pack all my food back up so it stays warm while I postpone dinner, get back in the car with my 1 year old baby, drive over to their restaurant in the rain and give them back THEIR MISTAKE? Is this the Ferris Bueller of restaurant policies? Do I have to produce a dead grandmother to allow my daughter to leave school? Oh wait, not to worry they tell me. I don't need to go out of my way tonight. I can wait a day and go out of my way tomorrow and bring my food back then for my refund (no extra refund for gas I assume?). What if I was picking up the food on my way through town? How far do they expect someone to drive. I called the credit card company and have started the procedure to dispute the charge. Even the credit card company was in disbelief over the restaurant policy. However, if I am unable to remove the charge from my credit card, you bet I will bring back my food for a refund. In a week or two...

Just plain bad. Dirty hole-in-the-wall joint. Soy sauce in everything. Not a lot of decent take-out in Fort Lauderdale/Wilton Manors to begin with, but look elsewhere. Go West! Silver Pond is excellent, as is Hong Kong City. Lotus, like Henry's on 17th St Causeway, should be passed by.

Since I live in Wilton Manors and was looking for a great Chinese Restaurant, I Read the reviews and even asked someone who lives in Oakland Park. This place came highly recommended. I did a take -out order and was happy with most of the items that I ordered. The one thing that I didn't like was the Chicken and broccoli. It was just very bland.. I will give it another chance and maybe dine in...

Excellent Cantonese dishes. Mandarin specials are good but tend to be more expensive. Best wonton soup in town. Very good ingredients are used in all dishes--and this makes Lotus the best Chinese restaurant in town.
